Our Commitment
ORYL Photonics SA is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We strive to provide an inclusive digital experience that meets recognised international standards, and we continuously work to improve the accessibility of our online content.
Target Standard
We aim for our website to conform to the **Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA**, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments.
Full details of WCAG 2.2 are available at: https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/
Conformance Status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Partial conformance means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to address identified gaps.
Audit Method
Our accessibility review has been conducted using the following approach:
- Self-assessment by the ORYL Photonics web team using automated testing tools, including browser-based accessibility checkers (e.g., axe DevTools, WAVE).
- Manual review of key pages and user journeys against WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criteria.
- Assistive technology testing using a screen reader (NVDA with Firefox; VoiceOver with Safari on macOS/iOS) on representative pages.
- Keyboard-only navigation testing to verify that all interactive elements are reachable and operable without a mouse.
We have not yet commissioned an independent third-party audit. We plan to engage an external accessibility specialist in the next review cycle.
Known Accessibility Gaps
Despite our efforts, we are aware of the following limitations. We are working to resolve them as part of our ongoing improvement programme:
| Area | Issue | WCAG Criterion | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Images & media | Some images in product and news pages lack descriptive `alt` text | 1.1.1 Non-text Content | In progress |
| PDF documents | Downloadable technical documents (e.g., product datasheets) are not fully tagged for screen readers | 1.3.1 Info and Relationships | Planned |
| Video content | Embedded video content does not currently include captions or audio descriptions | 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded) / 1.2.5 Audio Description | Planned |
| Colour contrast | Some secondary text elements and footer links may not meet the minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio | 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) | Under review |
| Focus indicators | Keyboard focus indicators are not consistently visible on all interactive components | 2.4.11 Focus Appearance | In progress |
| Form error messages | Some contact and enquiry form fields do not programmatically associate error messages with their inputs | 3.3.1 Error Identification | In progress |
| Cookie consent | The cookie consent banner may not be fully navigable by keyboard alone | 2.1.1 Keyboard | Planned |
We are prioritising these items and will update this statement as fixes are deployed.
